This award seeks to recognize and assist an MBASC law student member committed to serving the public interest.  The scholarship’s recipient will be awarded the amount of $2,030 to be applied to a preparatory course for the upcoming 2020 California bar exam.

To be eligible for the award, an applicant must (1) be a law student expecting to graduate from an ABA-accredited law school in 2020; (2) be an MBASC student member; (3) complete the online application; and (4) submit a personal statement (1,500 words, maximum) explaining:

1. The applicant’s past, present, and future commitment to the public interest;
2. The public interest career that the applicant seeks to pursue following law school graduation;
3. What motivates the applicant to pursue this career path and what professional goals the applicant hopes to achieve; and
4. The applicant’s financial need for this scholarship.

A committee of MBASC board members will award the scholarship to an individual whose application best demonstrates both a strong commitment to pursuing a career in public service, and financial need.

Applications must be submitted at https://forms.gle/XdbsBx8gzPvovjeC6 on or before May 1, 2020.  The recipient will be chosen and announced mid-May.

Please be advised that in the event either BarBRI cancels bar exam preparatory classes in the summer of 2020 or the California bar exam is not administered in 2020, MBASC, in consultation with the donor, will reassess whether and how funds are disbursed for the benefit of the award recipient.

We look forward to your applications!  Thank you.
